CATAPLEXY

The sudden loss in muscle tone that result in the whole body collapsing. It is temporary and can be brought about by extreme emotional stimulus. See narcolepsy- narcolepsy syndrome.

CATAPLEXY: "Joe had a an attack of cataplexy and collapsed to the ground when told his wife was dead."
