EXPECTED FREQUENCY

1. Frequency predicted from a theoretical model. 2. Frequency based on chance alone.

EXPERIMENTAL GROUP

The group or participants exposed to the variable.

EXPERIMENTER BIAS

An error occuring from the expectations of the experimenter.

EXPIATORY PUNISHMENT

A punishment to the wrongdoer who is made to suffer in proportion to the severity of wrongdoing. Compare reciprocal punishment.

EXPONENTIAL DISTRIBUTION

A basic distribution useful in psychological research

EXTENSION REFLEX

The reflex action that extends a limb away from the body. Compare flexion reflex.

The extent that research can be generalized beyond the results to other situations or people.
