refers to any disorder of bodily structure, function, or both that is associated with an alteration in the structure/number of any chromosomes that are not sex chromosomes (see autosome). An example of such a disorder is Down Syndrome, which is caused by modifications to one of a pair of chromosomes. Also known as autosomal abnormality- autosomal anomaly.
