NECROMANIA (literally, mania for the dead)

Pathological preoccupation with dead bodies.The interest in corpses is usually of a sexual character and may in some cases take the form of necrophilia, an erotic attraction to the dead. Necro- maniacs frequently dream about dead bodies and show a morbid interest in funerals, cemeteries (“taphophilia”), morgues, and autopsies. Some of them take jobs, such as embalmer, in which they constantly work with the dead. Hinsie and Campbell (1960) cite a case in which the patient could achieve satisfactory intercourse only when his partner repeatedly asserted that she was dead.
