ASSAULT

n. 1. a violent or vicious attack on an individual. 2. illegal conduct that occurs when an individual either attempts to injure another person or threatens to do so. In this case, the person asserting the threat must have the capacity to carry out the threat.

ASSAULT: "The person fell victim to assault when another person randomly hit them over the head with a baseball bat."
