BORDERLINE

adj. denoting anything which is difficult to place in one definite category. It can belong to any of two classes because it shows both types of characteristics. Also, suggesting that symptoms of a personality disorder are present in someone.

BORDERLINE: "Intelligence may sometimes show borderline traits of both average and sub-average categories."
