DURHAM RULE

Ruling stating an accused is not criminally responsible if his unlawful act was the product of mental disease or mental defect. Also called Durham decision- durham test- product rule.

DURHAM RULE: "In the Durham rule a person is not responsible for criminal actions if they are a product of a mnetal disease or defect."
