MEAN LENGTH OF UTTERANCE (MLU)

is a measure of the development of language in young children which is based primarily on the mean length of utterances (chunks of speech) in their spontaneous speech.

MEAN LENGTH OF UTTERANCE (MLU): "The mean length of utterance is the mean length which a child utters during speech development."
