METALANGUAGE

a language which is used either with linguistics or through the use of symbols to describe and even evaluate another language or set of symbols. Examples include the use of English words in the teaching and communication of foreign languages in modern foreign language lessons.

METALANGUAGE: "Meta-languages are used to evaluate other linguistics creations, this includes using symbols (etc.) to describe other languages - language to describe and evaluate a language."
