NEONATE

is a new-born baby, whether they are human or nonhuman animal. Depending on the time of birth in relation to the normal gestational period of 36 weeks will depend on the type of neonate.

NEONATE: "Children who have recently been born (up to a 1 month old) are classed as neonates."
