Also referred to as an intentional accident, an act that at first appears accidental but has an underlying purposeful deliberation. Possibly psychological motives are involved and not easily identifiable.

PURPOSIVE ACCIDENT: "The flat tire that prevented Herman from visiting his sister was, in fact, a purposive accident."
