RECESSIVE ALLELE

A type of gene allele that maifests its effect only if it is present on both member of a homologous pair of chromosomes or is present on an unmatched sex chromosome (such as the x chromosme In males).

RECESSIVE ALLELE: "A recessive allele can be present on an unmatched chromosome."
