RESPIRATION

Act of inhaling and exhaling, known as breathing. Oxidative process by which living cells use the chemical energy of organic molecules in a series of metabolic steps. Process employed by living organisms to take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide.

RESPIRATION: "Respiration is necessary for survival."
