SLEEP CENTER

a now obsolete name for the hypothalamus that was thought to control sleep. It is now shown that several areas control sleep including the hypothalamus and the reticular activating system. See waking centre.

SLEEP CENTER: "Sleep centre is an obsolete term and no longer used as there is more than one centre for sleep."
