TECTAL NUCLEUS

any of specific nuclei residing in the superior and inferior colliculus within the dorsal portion of the midbrain. They perform relay acts for the auditory and visual systems and they work in reflex operations. Some neurons within these nuclei are bimodal, reacting to both auditory and visual stimulants.

TECTAL NUCLEUS: "The tectal nucleus is more apparent in slides two and three than in the first."
