TRANSGENDER

adjective. having or correlating to gender identities which vary from culturally defined gender roles and biological gender. Transgender states are inclusive of transsexualism, intersexuality, and some types of transvestism. These states ought not to be confused with same-gender sexual orientation. Commonly referred to as transgendered.

TRANSGENDER: "Transgender individuals often grow up with much confusion about their sexual orientation, feeling they identify more with the sex that is opposite their physical features."
