TRUTH SERUM

a colloquial terminology for drugs, specifically the barbiturates pentobarbital, amobarbital, or thiopental, which are administered through and IV in low dosages to assist in inducing data by eliciting a calm, semi- hypnotic state wherein a person is less restricted and more communicative. The term is derived from the purported utilization of these drugs by police to draw confessions from suspects.
