AMNIOCCNTCSIS

a technique used to investigate the fetal chromosomes for any variety of irregularities or for the purpose of judging the gender of a fetus. An empty needle is placed into the pregnant woman's abdomen and thereby through the wall of the uterus. This allows for sampling of amniotic fluid.

AMNIOCCNTCSIS: "Maya was assured that the risks posed by not having the amniocentesis were much greater than those that came with the procedure."
