ATHLETIC TRIAD

the combination of three disorders: amenorrhea, anorexia nervosa, and osteoporosis (see calcium- deficiency disorders), that have been observed in some female athletes. These is more likely to be found among female athletes in subjectively evaluated, aesthetic sports (e.g., gymnastics, diving) or endurance sports (e.g., marathon or cross-country running).
