BISECTION

n. a method of dividing something precisely into two equal parts (or halves). Otherwise, it is a scaling method in psychophysics wherein the stimulus is adjusted until the subject perceives it as halfway in its position between two other stimuli.

BISECTION: "Bisection is easiest to achieve in a body or object showing bilateral symmetry."
