CONTACT DESENSITIZATION

a variant of step-by-step desensitization which involves player modeling rather than relaxation practicing: utilized in particular in the remediation of anxiousness. The therapy professional displays recommended behaviors, starting with those with the smallest worry-eliciting scenarios for the patient, and then helps the patient to carry out such behaviors.

CONTACT DESENSITIZATION: "The therapist suggested contact desensitization to help Marcus overcome and cope with his anxiety and phobias."
