MEDIUM

is an umbrella term used to describe a wide range of states, especially in the physical context. In chemistry, a medium is a liquid or viscous substance through which another solution moves. In biology, a medium can be a growth medium which provides nutrients and growth hormones to ensure an appropriate level of development in a short time frame.
