is one type of cell division which restores a cells amount of chromosomes to the required number. Normally, occurring in the sex organs, meiosis ensures the formation of ova and spermatozoa.

MEIOSIS: "Meiosis is the process through which sex cells are formed, such as the spermatozoa and ova with genetically indifferent cells to the parents."
