METHADONE MAINTENANCE THERAPY

is a rehabilitation therapy which ensures previous heroin addicts are prescribed methadone on a daily basis and then slowly weaned off methadone leaving them 'clean'.

METHADONE MAINTENANCE THERAPY: "Individuals who require help leaving heroin are sometimes put in the methadone maintenance therapy program, where doses of methadone which are decreased replace the daily fix of heroin."
