MODERATE MENTAL RETARDATION

is a diagnostic classification where the patient is tested using a standardized intelligence test with a resulting IQ between the range of 35 and 49. This classification applies to roughly 12% of people who are diagnosed with a mental illness.

MODERATE MENTAL RETARDATION: "An IQ between 35 and 49 will result in a diagnosis of moderate mental retardation."
