PHENYLPYRUVIC ACID

an intermediate outcome of the metabolism of phenylalanine. In clients with phenylketonuria, phenylalanine isn't synthesized or transformed into the normal outcome, tyrosine, but just to phenylpyruvic acid, that is secreted in the person's urine.
