PROTOTYPE MODEL

The prototype model proposes the formation of an average of the members of a category and subsequently uses that average for making judgments concerning the members of the category.

PROTOTYPE MODEL: "The prototype model counts on the average member of a category to form opinions and judgments about category membership."
