A justification for earlier behavior. Often seen in schizophrenia, the individual using the pseudo motivation may be unaware of the inconsistencies in the story or may be indifferent.

PSEUDOMOTIVATION: "Jacques used the pseudo motivation of trying to stop a bank robbery for his striking the innocent man."
