RECEPTIVE VOCABULARY

A person's vocabulary defined by words he or she can understand, identify and process. It may be more extensive than the vocabulary he or she uses regularly.

RECEPTIVE VOCABULARY: "Her receptive vocabulary was much more divers than her expressive vocabulary."
