RETROGRESSION

Reappearance of a lapsed unacceptable behavior, or a return to a behavior which was acceptable at a previous stage of development if more acceptable adult responses do not solve a dispute.

RETROGRESSION: "Retrogression can include the throwing of tantrums or relapse of baby talk in children."
