Rights embodied in the United Nations Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities which state that individuals with metal disabilities have the same rights as any other individual, including the right to seek out and receive suitable treatment, therapy, and rehabilitation; the right to obtain and keep employment, if applicable; the right to reside with their family or foster family, if feasible, or the right to reside in an appropriate residential setting resembling family life as closely as possible; and the right to be protected from being abused to exploited.
