RUFFINI'S CORPUSCLE

Type of gradually adjusting mechanoreceptor, believed to occur solely in the glabrous dermis and subcutaneous tissue of human beings. Thought to regulate the sensation of stretched skin, hand and finger positioning, and motion detection. Also known as: Ruffini's endings.
