SCIENTIFIC NOTATION

A way of writing numbers that accommodates values too large or small to be conveniently written in standard decimal notation, using multiplication by 10 with a positive or negative exponent. For instance: .00025 would be written as 2.5 x 10??.

SCIENTIFIC NOTATION: "Scientific notation was difficult to grasp when I was in sixth grade."
