nuclei inside the dorsolateral portion of the pons and the medulla oblongata inside of the brain which are recipient to fibers from the vestibular nerve and act to perceive a feeling and awareness of equilibrium and position in space.

VESTIBULAR NUCLEI: "The vestibular nuclei transmit fibers onto the reticular formation, vestibulospinal tract, cerebellum, and thalamus."
