FAIL-SAFE DESIGN

refers to the design of a specific object, where the project team would have taken all reasonable steps to remove the possibility of technological failure - hence, they are said to be fail-safe.

FAIL-SAFE DESIGN: "Most producers of equipment that could have potentially dangerous consequences attempt to produce a fail safe design diminishing any risk."
