Substitution of inappropriate feelings or impossible aims with more appropriate and achievable. Substitution can be both positive or negative answer. It is just like an alternative (either equal or unequal) of something.

SUBSTITUTION: "Example of positive substitution is adoption when person can't become parent naturally."
